まとめ  

 低線量放射線照射による抗酸化的抑制、酵素的修復そして免疫システム、ROSによるDNA傷害のアポトーシスによる除去などの変異抑制システムの活性化などによって、遺伝子の変異が減少していることが放射線ホルミシス−がんによる死亡率の低下およびその他のすべての原因による死亡率の低下−の生物学的な理由をなしている。放射線ホルミシスはLNT仮説が根拠としている生物物理学的な考え方とは相対するものである。
